Sand and Feathers....

What goes together better than Sand and Feathers...  What...?  When you think about it, where ever you find sand you will usually find feathers, whether on the sands of Death Valley or the sands of a coastal beach.  Let's check it out.

Virginia Beach

What jewels of geologic and aquatic history
can be found in the sands of our coastal shores

Feathers that mimic the flow of wind
 on the ocean currents

Is it a leopard, and ostrich or one of the first feathered experiments in the quest for flight?
Nope, it's just a Duck!

The Sands of Time...

What a beautiful combination of Air, Sand and Water...

What is that I spy?  A nest full of feathers?

Yes, of the most Regal kind!
.

What DO Hippos do all day?

What DO Hippos do all day?

Here's a fun post for all zoo lovers.  Today's photographer asked that question and had a "ball" watching and finding out what this hippo enjoyed doing all day!

Photographer:  Photo Amature

Location: Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Colorado Springs, Colorado

"Here I am, standing here looking at you looking at me,"
says the hippo.

I'm bored, think I'll go for a swim

Wanna play with me?

Bet you can't do this.....

Just like Tiddly Winks....When I squish it hard enough
it pops right out of my mouth.  Cool....

A Birds Day at the Beach

Do birds enjoy the beach and ocean air as much as we humans do?  According to these photos taken  recently along the Virginia Beaches, they sure do.

Photographer:  Photo Amature

Along a boating dock, this black bird found a perch
to stretch and feel the cool refreshing breeze flow
through his wings.

Can't you feel that breeze and freedom he felt?  Photo Amature almost joined in.

We're.......BACK!!!!!!! - Barns Wearing Camo!

Barns Wearing Camo!

Have you ever seen a barn wearing camo?  Or, wondered where in the world is Waldo?  Well, here's your chance to seek out the hide and seek game of Where's the barn.....

Photographer:  Photo Amature

This old building is easy to see but it's clearly wearing Camo!

 (Special effects from  rain)

Shaggy but still standing!

 Peek-A-Boo...I see you....

If I squat behind this tree, you can't see me....right?

Just cause my beard is shaggy...

I can't help it if I'm bald on top....

Na..na..na....You..can't..see..me....

Now for some clearly seen newer barns...

If you noticed a similarity in the style and structure of some of the barns, you saw correctly.  These buildings were photographed in Virginia and Kentucky and several were among the Mennonite community farmlands.
